FiberDev 2.0 for Windows 10 (Enterprise License)
FiberDev 2.0 for Windows 10 (Enterprise License)
FiberDev 2.0 uses state-of-the-art numerical techniques to rapidly solve Maxwell’s equations in a fiber waveguide with no approximations
Rapidly evaluates the true vector modes of any real or complex radial index profile entered by the user
Very high accuracy (> 12 digits for propagation constants, > 9 digits for mode fields)
Fast: evaluates 3 hybrid modes and their properties at 25 wavelengths in 1 second (Pentium E6700 @ 3.2 GHz)
Index profile can have any number of discontinuities
Index profiles can be saved for re-use
Supports import of measured index profile text files
Material dispersion can be included using built-in Sellmeier expansions
Allows users to verify satisfaction of Maxwell’s equations and mode orthogonality
Also performs LP mode evaluation under the weakly guiding approximation
Evaluates modal properties including loss, group delay, dispersion, dispersion slope, cutoff, effective area, and mode field diameter
All computational results can be saved in text files for later reference or use in other applications
Includes support for the use of a perfectly matched layer (PML) with user-controllable properties for simulation of radiation effects in an open waveguide
Includes an exact treatment of field propagation through a circular bend, including transition regions where the curvature changes smoothly from straight to bent and bent to straight.
Evaluate bend losses and mode mixing
Strain-optic effect can be included, if desired
Easily perform sweeps over wavelength, bend radius, or bend extent to obtain bend properties as functions of these parameters
Provides exact results that can be used to test the accuracy of approximate treatments of bend propagation/loss
Evaluates the field at arbitrary distances from the fiber endface with no approximation
Includes back-reflection from the fiber endface
Enables simulation of the ITU far-field measurement process for mode field diameter and effective area
Evaluate numerical aperture (NA) and beam divergence angle
Perform eye-safety studies
Study the free-space propagation of fields emerging from fiber
Easy to use graphical interfaces/dialogs give the user control of the computational process
Publication quality graphics capabilities

To install software after purchase:
After completing the purchase, download the FiberDev2.0_zipped file
Using the Windows File Explorer utility, create a folder named “Electrodynamic Insights” at a desired location.
Navigate to the location of the downloaded FiberDev2.0_zipped file (usually in the Downloads folder). Right click on the file to bring up the context menu.
Click on “Extract all” in the context menu. This will bring up the “Select a Destination and Extract Files” dialog box. If “Extract all” does not appear in the context menu, click on “Open with” in the context menu and select Windows Explorer. Then click on the “Extract all” option that appears in the toolbar. This will bring up the “Select a Destination and Extract Files” dialog box.
If you are installing the software on a laptop with a touchpad instead of a mouse, and right-clicking is not enabled on the touchpad, then click on the FiberDev2.0_zipped file to select it. Click on the “Extract” option in the menu that appears. Then click on “Extract all” in the toolbar. This will bring up the “Select a Destination and Extract Files” dialog box.
Enter the path for the Electrodynamic Insights folder created in step 2 into the dialog box. The path name should end with \Electrodynamic Insights (for example, the path could be C:\Users\YourName\Electrodynamic Insights)
Click the Extract button in the dialog box. Windows will automatically create a FiberDev 2.0 subfolder in the Electrodynamic Insights folder. The software will be in this subfolder.
In the FiberDev 2.0 subfolder, you will find the file User Manual FiberDev 2.0.pdf. This user manual will provide a complete description of the use of the software, including instructions on running the FiberDev 2.0 application on your computer.
